Value of our information
In chapter 2 of who owns the future it discusses that our information is of great value. It goes into say that everyone should be compensated for the information. I think it would be truley amazing if everything that I put out on the internet that was used would be worth actuall money. If I could get paid just for posting some type of information on the internet I would probably be on the internet all the time p. It is an excellent idea, but I feel that if it was truley a possibility it probably would have already been done by now. I think there are just way too many people and too much info out there to give pay to every single person that's posted something online that's been used for something else..while it's a great idea, I just don't see it ever happening. but who knows maybe in the future it will be possible and we will all start getting paid for the information we put out there..

I touched on this too in my blog! Think about how Apple pays developers for their intellectual property sales through the app store. It is the same concept. However, I would have to imagine that if you are going to pay someone for information there would have to be some kind of checks and balances system to ensure the integrity and validity of their data. Also, it would be interesting to see how things such as discussion boards and forums would survive this sort of idea.
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy to be paid for information too but i just can't see it being a viable option for companies to pay users for information that is probably already online somewhere for free. Maybe that is the future though
ReplyDeleteThis is a great point. It is just way too big right now, too many loose ends. This would be great though because people do deserve to get paid for what is intellectually theirs.
ReplyDeleteI agree that everyone should get paid for their information and ideas. This is not necessarily a new concept, in that, anyone can take their thoughts and ideas and patent, copyright, etc, and make as much money as possible their ideas. People have been getting paid for their ideas since civilization started, they just have to be willing to put in the time and effort to make their ideas worth while.
