The power in digital technology
In chapter two of Who Owns The Future it discusses the power digital technology has and also the power it takes away from us humans. Digital technology has changed they way in which power (such as money or political office) is gained, lost, distributed, or defended among humans. Digital technology has taken away a lot of power from humans and is said to have caused more harm than it has helped. Technology takes away jobs usually done by humans. With technology humans are somewhat useless when it comes to certain jobs. To me it's a terrible thing that so many people lose their jobs because of a machine. technology has taken over and the power humans have over certain things is dwindling down..

I think you bring up an excellent point in regard to how technology has made an impact to communication. Playing devil's advocate, I think it is important to consider jobs that have been created as a result of the advent and uprise of technological prevalence in both industry and business. Additionally, many of these jobs require specialized skill sets and education. As a result, jobs with higher pay and focus have been created.
ReplyDeleteI think there is more of a shift towards technology based jobs as opposed to jobs completely disappearing. Many jobs are needed in order to produce and maintain the new technology. The unfortunate part is that some people can't afford the education required to be able to use the technology effectively.
